About ACYA
Action for Children and Youth Aotearoa (ACYA) is a coalition of non governmental organisations, families and individuals. We promote the rights of our children and young people through advocacy and monitoring of the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and other international human rights instruments.
ACYA is a non-profit incorporated society. We are registered with the Charities Commission. Our purpose is to promote and enhance the wellbeing of children and young people in Aotearoa/New Zealand by:
  • Promoting understanding and implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCROC)
  • Providing reports from civil society in Aotearoa New Zealand to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child
  • Promoting action on the recommendations made to our government by the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child
  • Promoting opportunities for the voice and participation of children and youth
ACYA prepares and presents the periodic shadow reports to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child. The shadow reports analyse the extent to which the rights of children and young people are being implemented in Aotearoa New Zealand.
